Baltimore Bright Academy is looking for a hardworking and reliable custodian who can ensure our school is kept in pristine condition. The successful custodian should be able to work independently and as part of a team and should be committed to upholding the highest standards at all times.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Sweep and mop floors on a regular basis
  • Dust furniture and other surfaces daily
  • Clean and polish windows and mirrors
  • Empty trash receptacles, recycle bins, and ashtrays
  • Disinfect and sterilize rest rooms and other areas
  • Maintain records and logs of cleaning activities and materials used
  • Ensure all cleaning materials and tools are stored securely and properly
  • Inspect building and equipment for safety and maintenance requirements
  • Assist with maintenance and repair of buildings, such as painting and carpentry
  • Maintain outside grounds and parking lot

Work Hours and Benefits:

What a typical day looks like for a custodian

A custodian's job is to ensure the cleanliness, upkeep, and maintenance of facilities. On a daily basis, a custodial staff member would likely start by cleaning and sanitizing common areas, restocking supplies, vacuuming and mopping floors, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, emptying trash cans, and performing other duties such as window washing, interior and exterior painting, and minor maintenance tasks.
