Jacksonville Job Market

Jacksonville, named after the 7th U.S. president Andrew Jackson, serves as Florida’s premier transportation and commercial hub. Prior to both European and American settlement, the land was occupied by the native Timucua peoples. In 1821, Florida was officially taken in as a U.S. territory, and just one year later, Jacksonville was established. In its early days, the city exported cotton, lumber, oranges, and vegetables from the ports bordering the St. Johns River and the Atlantic Ocean. But despite its early growth, Jacksonville experienced a series of hurdles including economic hardship after the Civil War and a yellow fever pandemic. By the 20th century, the city began to rebuild. Efforts to restore the city included a public library donated by Andrew Carnegie in 1905, the first paved road connecting the beach with the city in 1910, and the introduction of the film production industry. Electric trolley cars connected the city more than ever before by 1923, and soon enough Jacksonville transformed into a leading transportation hub. Fast forward to the 21st century, popular industries in the area include trade, transportation & utilities, professional business services, and education & health services, but other job sectors are indeed hiring for occupations of all kinds. There are currently part-time jobs and full-time jobs hiring in Jacksonville at companies in all types of industries.
