The Surgical Technologist performs clinical and technical duties in the operating room environment under the supervision of a licensed surgeon, registered nurse, certified surgical technologist, and/or operating room manager. In general, this position must be able to make independent decisions based on assessing the situation. Duties may include the preparation and recovery of surgical instruments and equipment needed for the surgery. Other tasks include the setup of supplies that might be needed during the surgery, such as oxygen tanks and monitors.
