A database administrator (DBA) is responsible for everything related to the operation and maintenance of their organization's database. This includes but is not limited to: database security, system performance monitoring, backup and recovery plan, data warehouse set up and maintenance, statement and deadline preparation, general optimization of system performance, regular auditing of users’ access rights. They may also create and manage databases from scratch and use tools to manage an already created database.
