A fire investigator is responsible for investigating the origins of fires, explosions, and other incidents involving fire. This will require them to go on-site of a potential fire incident and survey the area for clues. They may also be required to examine debris remnants for any signs of flammable liquids or gases. The Fire Investigator collects evidence as necessary and is in charge of case file preparation for prosecutions. Other people under the responsibility of a fire investigator include firefighters, police officers, and EMTs who are in charge of evacuating the building, securing the crime scene, preserving the site if necessary, and providing any other relevant information to the fire investigator.
