Cashiers are responsible for accurately and efficiently completing transactions, including using electronic point-of-sale (POS) equipment and processing credit card sales. They also stock shelves and counters, clean equipment, monitor receipts to ensure accuracy, receive payment methods such as checks and money orders, keep records of daily transactions and cash handling procedures, cash out subordinate staff, accept payments from customers, tally amounts for cashiering transactions, issue returns/refunds/exchanges to customers on a limited basis, accept payment from customers for pre-completed transactions such as parking permits or vending machine account payments, verify identification of credit card customers.
