The aircraft painter (or exterior surface prep technician) uses paint, brushes, or rollers to apply primers and finishes to aircraft fuselage sections, control surfaces, landing gear doors, tail control surfaces, empennage, and vertical fin. They also apply cosmetic coatings (non-structural coatings), decals and necessary hardware replacement before attaching the finished product to the aircraft fuselage assembly. They spray commercial paint to match specific body colors for a customer aircraft.
