A Special Needs teacher is a general educator who specializes in teaching students with special needs. Often this means students with disabilities, but this is not the only group of students that a special needs teacher commonly works with. They may also work in a classroom of slower learners or children that are younger than their peers. Their role is to create lesson plans, plan and lead activities, and maintain student discipline and behavior in the classroom.
